Please join us at Dignity Health California Medical Center on Tuesday, Feb 21, 2017 for a day-long seminar focused on safely supporting new breastfeeding families in the Baby-Friendly Hospital environment.
Transitioning to new processes and procedures to conform to Baby-Friendly guidelines can be a challenge. With safety as the highest priority, it is possible to incorporate change and support breastfeeding.
Our expert speakers will provide crucial information on the latest research and insights into helping breastfeeding families meet their own goals.
Hospital staff and community lactation care providers will learn to work as a team to provide a safety net for new families along their breastfeeding journey.
Following the didactic presentations, participants will be able to:
- Describe appropriate, evidence-based protocols for skin-to-skin contact in the hospital setting;
- Identify infants at risk for breastfeeding problems and recommended strategies to support them;
- Describe techniques for milk expression and appropriate use of alternate feeding methods and tools; and
- Identify supportive communication methods and phrases to promote breastfeeding and encourage breastfeeding families to work toward their own breastfeeding goals.
