Take the first step towards removing barriers to breastfeeding and improving breastfeeding equity in LA County. We will explore how race/ethnicity, geographic location, place of birth and other factors have a direct correlation to breastfeeding. We will develop an action plan to create change in Los Angeles County.

Who should attend?

Clinical: Those involved in policy, quality improvement & care coordination for maternal child services. We strongly encourage you to send a team made up of members such as, Chief Nursing Officers, Maternity Care Managers, Quality Improvement professionals, physician/provider champions, and Baby-Friendly Hospital Initiative Coordinators, pediatricians, ob/gyn providers, nurses.

Community: Community-based perinatal health advocates, midwives, doulas, lactation consultants, mental health professionals, educators, coalition partners, public policy and community organizers, insurance providers.

Why should you attend?

  • To explore how race/ethnicity, geographic location, place of birth and other factors have a direct correlation to breastfeeding and human milk feeding.
  • To identify barriers to human milk feeding in your community and develop steps to reduce inequities.
  • To develop an action plan to create change in the infant feeding landscape in LA or your local community.
  • To stay up-to-date on new initiatives & mandates around infant feeding.
  • To create and strengthen our partnerships with other hospitals, healthcare providers, clinics, community advocates and public health professionals to improve maternal and child health outcomes.

Cost: $75 per day (includes breakfast, lunch and continuing education), $100 per day (includes breakfast, lunch and continuing education) after August 10th, 2018. $25 for Zero Weeks Screening. All payments include an additional 3% processing fee. Checks postmarked after August 10th must be at the late registration price.

Lactation Accommodations:

Babies in arms and nursing in public are always welcome at our events.  A lactation lounge is also available at the California Endowment for those who wish to use it.

Payment Policy

Payment must be made during the time of online registration using a credit or debit card. If you need to make alternate payment arrangements such as a company check to be mailed to BreastfeedLA, you MUST select the ticket option of “General Registration by Check.”  Checks postmarked after August 10th must be at the late registration price.  

Continuing Education Credits (offered at no additional charge)

Registered Nurses: BreastfeedLA is an approved provider by the California Board of Registered Nursing. This course offers 12 contact hours of continuing education.  BreastfeedLA’s provider number is CEP 16435. Licensee must maintain certificate for a period of four years.

Lactation Consultants: BreastfeedLA is an approved Long-Term Provider by the International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners #CLT113-36. 5 L-CERPs will be awarded.

For Physicians: This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance

Accreditation Standards (IMQ/CMA) through the Joint Providership of the Perinatal

Advisory Council: Leadership, Advocacy and Consultation (PAC/LAC) and [name of

non-accredited provider]. PAC/LAC is accredited by the Institute for Medical

Quality/California Medical Association (IMQ/CMA) to provide continuing education for

physicians. PAC/LAC takes responsibility for the content, quality and scientific

For CAMFT: Perinatal Advisory Council: Leadership, Advocacy, and Consultation

(PAC/LAC) is approved by the California Association of Marriage and Family

Therapists to sponsor continuing education for LMFTs, LCSWs, LPCCs, and LEPs. CE

Provider #128542. PAC/LAC maintains responsibility for the program/course and its

content. Course meets the qualifications for XX hours of continuing education credit

for LMFTs, LCSWs, LPCCs, and/or LEPs as required by the California Board of

Behavioral Sciences.
