Baby-Friendly Project Coordinator - Northridge Hospital Medical Center

Seeking RN with IBCLE to implement all the steps of Baby Friendly and move the department to designation certification 1) Collects data and reports the steps of Baby Friendly and Joint Commission Core Measures  2) Provides appropriate education regarding lactation to meet the individual needs of the postpartum and childbirth education preparation for the breast-feeding mom. 3) Helps promote lactation education and skills desired between staff, families, and patients for breast feeding friendly goals of Northridge Hospital.

Immediate need for an experienced professional 1) Charge/Clinical Supervisor, Labor and Delivery 2) Staff Registered Nurse, Labor Delivery 3) Staff Registered Nurse, Postpartum 4) Staff Registered Nurse, Nursery.

The Charge/Staff Registered Nurse will be responsible for excellence in the clinical practice of nursing and the management of patient care with 12 hour accountability for organizing, planning, directing, coordinating, and providing high quality, individualized patient/family centered care based on the Watson Model of Care, including the identification and demonstration of abilities to meet special needs and considerations of Age and Population Specific awareness. This position requires the full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the mission of Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Hospital and demonstration of behavior consistent with the Core Values.

Position Summary:

The Lactation Consultant will provide expectant parents with the knowledge of how to breastfeed.

Position Qualifications:

Minimum Education:

Graduation from an accredited, Associates Degree in Nursing Program.   Bachelors of Science in Nursing preferred.

Certification as a Lactation Consultant.

Minimum Experience/Skills:

Minimum 5 years lactation experience in an acute care setting.

Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.

Bilingual preferred.

Clinical Nurse II Lactation Consultant – Obstetrics Post Partum – F/T – Days

The certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) is an expert in the management of the breastfeeding mother-baby dyad.  Functions as a coach, consultant, teacher and lactation expert.  As a consultant, she works collaboratively with the L&D, Mother-Baby, NICU, and Pediatric team to develop feeding plans for a range of infants from the normal newborn to the complex neonate.

Required Qualifications: Minimum 2 years demonstrated nursing experience in clinical lactation support to patients

Current BLS certification

Current NRP certification

Licensed Registered Nurse

Current certification by the International Board of Certified Lactation Consultants

Preferred Qualifications:

Previous NICU experience

BSN Degree
