Please join us for a day-long seminar focused on proper assessment of breastfeeding dyads including working with non-latching babies, preventing failure to thrive, and an update on tongue tie.
This seminar highlights conditions that may contribute to problems for the lactating parent and/or infant and outline global assessments and techniques to identify and prevent breastfeeding issues. Catherine will also share the latest information on assessing the need for lingual and labial frenotomy, assessing the success of a frenotomy, and supporting breastfeeding post revision.
Objectives
Following the didactic presentations, participants will be able to:
• Detail the systems that should be examined in a global assessment of the infant for breastfeeding
• List 3 conditions that may delay or prevent normal breastfeeding
• List 3 maternal and infant conditions that put a dyad at risk of failure to thrive and warrant referral for breastfeeding assistance
• Differentiate the histology of normal and altered lingual frenula.

Registered Nurses: BreastfeedLA is an approved provider by the California Board of Registered Nursing. This course offers 6 contact hours of continuing education. BreastfeedLA’s provider number is CEP 16435. Licensee must maintain certificate for a period of four years.
Lactation Consultants: BreastfeedLA is an approved Long-Term Provider by the International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners #CLT113-36. 5 L-CERPs will be awarded.
