If you have extra breast milk, think about becoming a milk donor.
Mothers’ milk is always best for her child. Donor milk is second best because the immunologic components protect the infant from infections and strengthens the delicate gastrointestinal tract. The nutritional components of breast milk provide optimal growth and more effective development than other food choices. Chances are, if you can donate blood, you can donate milk.

How Donating Works
Your excess breast milk is collected and screened, stored for optimal nutritional value, processed to remove viruses and bacteria that may cause illness, and distributed to hospitals and families.
It’s EASY: Get Started at the MOMS Orange County Breast Milk Drive
- Bring your frozen breast milk (milk stored up to 6 months in freezer will be accepted).
- Get pre-screened by answering a few quick questions and then you are free to enjoy the event.
- Mothers’ Milk Bank will contact you to discuss your medical history and complete the screening process.
- When each screening is complete, a small blood test will be arranged for you.
- Once approved to be a donor, you will receive milk bags and instructions on how to store and send your much appreciated donation.
*Transporting milk is managed by the Milk Bank. It is free to you. You simply fill up the cooler we provide and send back to us (no dry ice required).
